General

  1. The Chief Executive Officer is the President, who can be reached by inquiring at the office by the main gate.
  2. The officials of the fair and the police appointed will keep order on the grounds. The rules will be enforced and there will be vigilant night watches during the fair.
  3. The various Superintendents have general control, management and supervision of their respective departments.
  4. The officers of the Afton Fair always endeavor to exercise every reasonable precaution to avoid theft, fire and accident. The Afton Fair and its officers will in no case be held responsible for injury or damage to persons or property from any cause. (Upon this condition, persons are invited to attend or exhibit accept this taking part in a performance or assuming the risk, all persons are directed to keep off the track and away from the track fence.)
  5. Additional regulation of each department appears at the head of the list of premiums for that department.
  6. The Horse Races will be governed by the rules of the U.S. Trotting Association.
  7. Any infraction of these rules by an exhibitor will incur the forfeit of all premiums to him/her and such others or further penalty as the Board of Directors may order.
  8. No peddler, concession, show of any kind will be admitted to the grounds until a signed contract and insurance is filed with fair secretary or treasurer.
  9. Persons found gaining unlawful admission will be dealt with according to law.
  10. Entry blanks must be made out in full by exhibitor. See individual departments for closing dates. No entries will be received thereafter without special arrangement with superintendent.
  11. All exhibits must be in place at time specified to qualify for premiums.
  12. All exhibitors must have exhibition pass.
  13. No person will be allowed to act as judge of any class in which he/she has stock or articles entered for premiums.
  14. Premium checks will be mailed to winners after the close of the fair, complete mailing address is required by the postal service.
  15. Stock must not be removed from the grounds until 5:00 PM on Saturday. Exhibits entered for premiums must not be removed before 6:00 Sunday or at the discretion of the Floral Hall superintendent.
    • No tear down before 5 pm Saturday.
  16. Hay and bedding will not be furnished by the Fair Association.
  17. Exhibits must be numbered.
  18. All protests must be taken to the President within six hours after the cause of the complaint.
  19. Any exhibitor who shall make any false statement in regard to any article or animal exhibited or interfere with judges in any manner whatever, shall be excluded from the competition.
  20. All livestock must be registered in the Herd Book of Breed to which it belongs and names and numbers of animals must be given when entered and certificates of registry be shown. No registration papers pending.
  21. Entrance fees are plainly stated at the head of each class.
  22. All exhibitors and helpers must purchase exhibitor tickets or other admission tickets beyond 2 provided free with application.
  23. All exhibitors to be eligible for premiums must be the bona fide owners of the articles exhibited for premiums. In case of dispute, bill of sale must be furnished by owner.
  24. The Fair Association will not be liable for exhibits after 6:00 PM closing day.
  25. Any exhibits left on the fairgrounds past 3:00 PM Sunday will become the property of the fair.
  26. All animals entering the Afton Fair grounds must have veterinary certificate proving active immunization against rabies and it was given 14 days before the opening day of the fair.
